Writers on Tall And True

Judd Exley

I was born in the Rockies of Montana and educated at Texas A&M with an MFA from Univ. of Colorado, but I left Corporate America for True Love and am now a proud West Australian, raising a spoiled rabbit with my amazing wife and amazinger kids who have funny little blended accents.

My short stories have been published in the short story anthology, Like Clockwork, and the upcoming micro-memoir anthology from Night Parrot Press. I've been "Highly Commended" in The Twisted Stringybark Short Story Award 2022 as well as the Australian Writers' Centre's Furious Fiction challenge several times and a 2nd-place showing in the OOTA Spilt Ink Competition 2023. Under a pen name, I've self-published Sci-Fi novels in a series called After the Pulse.

I believe a good story is one that sticks with you. I'm out to tell the story that you'll think about. Something that lasts. Something you keep.

Annabel loved her crochet samplers, her porcelain miniatures, her creepily-staring dolls, but she worshipped her spoons. She bid them good night, every night, and she stopped and stared at them every single day, sometimes finishing a nice cup of tea whilst standing unsteadily in front of them.
